They’re pressing for governance fixes, more transparency, and a properly seated board while working with members on a possible resolution.

2. Steamboat man sentenced in Walden crash that killed pedestrian (skyhinews.com) — A 22-year-old Steamboat Springs resident has been sentenced to probation, 180 days in jail, and community service for a high-speed crash in Walden that killed one young woman and seriously injured another. Investigators found his truck was traveling nearly three times the speed limit, and the judge also ordered treatment, driving courses, and a long-term no-contact order with the victims’ families.

3. Suspect in Texas felony case arrested while snowboarding at Colorado resort (denvergazette.com) — Steamboat Springs police, working with resort security and federal partners, arrested a Texas armed-robbery suspect at the base of Steamboat Resort after he spent the day snowboarding. Authorities say he’ll be transported back to Texas for court proceedings, and emphasize that all charges remain allegations until proven in court.

Olympic sports weekend recap: Lindsey Vonn's emotional season start, Jordan Stolz goes 5 for 5 (nbcsports.com) — Steamboat Springs just hosted the Visa Big Air event where freeskier Troy Podmilsak clinched his Olympic spot with a second World Cup win of the season. The competition also marked snowboard star Jamie Anderson’s return, as she reached the big air final in her first contest since having her second child, while a wide range of U.S. winter athletes made Olympic moves worldwide.

Craig woman pleads guilty to drug distribution, sentenced to 5 years in community corrections (craigdailypress.com) — Steamboat Springs police joined a regional drug task force whose investigation led to a Craig woman pleading guilty to distributing meth and receiving a five-year community corrections sentence. The case, built with help from an informant, involved alleged bulk meth and fentanyl trafficking into Craig, with most of the original charges dismissed under a plea deal.
