Sterling police seize meth, fentanyl during traffic stop (newschannelnebraska.com) โ Sterling police seized methamphetamine and fentanyl during a Monday night traffic stop on North Sixth Avenue, leading to a suspectโs arrest on multiple felony drug charges. Officers, assisted by a Logan County K-9, recovered about 63 grams of meth and 41 fentanyl pills. Police say this is the third major meth bust in Sterling in the past month.

RE-1 Valley School Board approves tax levy increase (journal-advocate.com) โ Property owners in the RE-1 Valley School District, including much of Sterling, will see higher taxes next year after the board raised its mill levy to 35.399. Board members also advanced a new high school bowling program involving Sterling High School, approved an agreement with the Sterling Urban Renewal Authority, and outlined new rules for public comment at meetings.

Logan County to hold public hearing on data center regulations Jan. 6 (journal-advocate.com) โ Logan County commissioners will hold a Jan. 6 public hearing on new data center and energy facility regulations that could shape a proposed Granite Renewables data center about 21 miles northwest of Sterling. Officials discussed expected water and power use, potential rate impacts, and directed that draft rules be posted online, while also approving several tourism and land-use items.

Mustang men's basketball drops pair in Region IX Challenge (wyomingnews.com) โ Sterling hoops fans saw Western Wyomingโs Mustangs drop two close Region IX Challenge games in town, including a 72โ70 nail-biter against Northeastern Junior College. Despite strong performances from Jacovey Campbell and Paulius Narvilas, Western was hurt by foul trouble and free throws, and now looks ahead to January road games elsewhere in Colorado.

See the Top 25 Colorado Communities Losing Residents Since 2020 (wearemontrose.com) โ New state population data show Sterling is among several Colorado communities losing residents since the 2020 census, even as the state overall keeps growing. While Front Range towns like Timnath and Castle Rock boom, Sterling joins places like Avon, Craig, and Palisade on a top-25 list of communities seeing notable declines.
