• Adam Barajas sworn in as Westminster's newest city councilor (westminsterwindow.com) — Westminster has a new city council member: Adam Barajas was sworn in Dec. 15 to fill incoming Mayor Claire Carmelia’s former seat through November 2027. He was chosen from 20 applicants, though at least one councilor questioned the appointment process and argued residents should vote in a special election instead. 
• Westminster schools closing district-run childcare program (westminsterwindow.com) — Nearly 50 families in and around Westminster must find new childcare after Westminster Public Schools decided to close its largest early childhood center, F.M. Day, on May 28 and consolidate into the smaller Gregory Hill site. Limited capacity, priority for staff and in-district families, and an 11-day service gap mean many Midtown families may be left scrambling for alternatives.
• Vantor partners with Niantic Spatial on GPS-free navigation for defense market (spacenews.com) — A Westminster-based company, Vantor, is teaming up with San Francisco’s Niantic Spatial to develop GPS-free navigation technology for military drones, vehicles, and ground troops. Their combined visual positioning systems aim to keep air and ground platforms coordinated when GPS is jammed or spoofed, with field tests planned for early 2026.
