4 Connecticut Towns Among 100 Priciest ZIP Codes In U.S.: New Report

Following last year's decline in prices, 67 percent of the country's 100 most expensive ZIP codes saw median sale prices increase in 2024.

CONNECTICUT — Four Connecticut locations are among the priciest in the U.S., according to a new report.

Real Estate market-watcher PropertyShark calculated median sale prices based on closed home sales, to identify the 100 most expensive ZIP codes in 2024.

Three Connecticut ZIP codes surpassed $2M median sale price for the first time ever. Nationally, Riverside (06878), Greenwich (06830) and Old Greenwich (06870) came in at No. 53, No. 64 and No. 80 respectively. At No. 99, Darien broke into the nationwide top 100 for the first time with a $1.92M median sale price.

As usual, Fairfield County properties dominated Connecticut's luxury market, claiming all slots among the top 10.

The PropertyShark analysts tagged the main trend of the year as one of "cautious growth for luxury real estate."

Following last year's decline in prices, 67 percent of the country's 100 most expensive ZIP codes saw median sale prices increase in 2024, as opposed to only 29 percent in 2023. As a result, a record 15 ZIP codes had median sale prices of $4 million and above and only 15 stayed below $2 million.

Atherton, California remains the most expensive ZIP code in the U.S. for the 8th consecutive year, but slipped below $8M. Just across the water, The Hamptons' Sagaponack and Water Mill rank as the second and third most expensive ZIP codes, respectively, just under $6 million. New York City is still the top city for pricey zip codes, claiming six of the country’s most expensive, according to the PropertyShark report.
