CONNECTICUT — Amazon is looking to fill 3,500 positions in Connecticut as part of a 250,000-job hiring spree for the holiday season and possibly beyond.

The announcement was made Monday.

"The holidays are one of the most exciting times at Amazon—both because of the joy our customers feel, and because it's when we welcome thousands of new teammates into our network," Amazon officials said.

This year, positions being filled are full-time, part-time and seasonal positions throughout the Amazon fulfillment and transportation network. Fulfillment jobs are likely warehouse-related.

Regular full- and part-time employees earn an average of $23 per hour with benefits, and seasonal employees can earn an average wage of more than $19 per hour, Amazon officials said.

Jobs will be posted weekly from October through December on hiring.amazon.com.

Said Amazon officials, "We find that our seasonal roles are really popular — often filling up within minutes of being posted — because they meet different needs for so many different people. For some, it's a few months of extra income to support their families during the holidays. For others, it's the first step in building a new career path. Every year, we meet employees who started as seasonal hires and go on to become managers, trainers, or leaders across our buildings, and we love that people everywhere can make these jobs what they want them to be."

In Connecticut, Amazon has a strong presence in towns like Windsor, Manchester. South Windsor, Glastonbury, Newington, Bristol, Cromwell, Wallingford, North Haven and Danbury and soon on the Waterbury-Naugatuck line.
