Amazon Opens New Delivery Station In CT To 'Enhance Service Across 3 States'
Amazon officials said the facility is creating 275 full-time jobs for those who prepare packages and hundreds more delivery positions.

PLAINFIELD, CT — Amazon has opened its newest delivery station in Plainfield at a facility designed to help out with workloads over three states, officials for the company said.
The station is located at 137 Lathrop Road. That's the address of the old greyhound racing track. The former dog track was demolished eight years ago.
The 202,000-square-foot facility, known as "DCY2," is now operational and will serve customers across Eastern Connecticut and into portions of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The facility is equipped with charging stations to support Amazon's custom electric delivery vehicles.

"This delivery station is part of Amazon's commitment to supporting communities across eastern Connecticut and beyond," said Glendowlyn Thames, the head of Connecticut Economic Development at Amazon. "We're excited to invest in Plainfield, creating good jobs and improving delivery speed and reliability for families and small businesses throughout the region. By launching with electric delivery vehicles, we're also showcasing innovative delivery solutions that benefit both our customers and the environment."
Added, said Kevin M. Cunningham, the first selectman of Plainfield, "Our team has worked closely with Amazon throughout the development process to ensure this facility benefits the entire Plainfield community. This project represents more than just job creation — it's about establishing a long-term partnership that strengthens our local tax base, improves infrastructure, and provides our residents with enhanced delivery service. We appreciate Amazon's commitment to being a responsible corporate neighbor and look forward to seeing the positive impact of this delivery station for years to come."

Amazon officials said DCY2 is creating 275 full-time jobs for employees who prepare customer packages for final delivery, while Delivery Service Partners will add approximately 350 more positions in the area.
"Amazon's investment in Plainfield represents new opportunities for local job growth and regional economic growth," said Elle-Jordyn Sherman, executive director of the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. "We look forward to partnerships that connect their workforce needs with our local talent and strengthen our broader business community here in northeastern Connecticut."
As the final step in Amazon's fulfillment process, DCY2 receives packages from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers that are then sorted and loaded into delivery vehicles for direct transport to customers' doorsteps. Plainfield's strategic location allows this facility to serve communities across a multi-state radius including Palmer, Massachusetts; Old Saybrook and Colchester, Connecticut; Charlestown, Rhode Island; and many points in between.
According to economic impact data released by Amazon yesterday, independently analyzed by Keystone Strategy, Amazon has invested more than $11.5 billion in Connecticut since 2010, including infrastructure and employee compensation, contributing $11 billion to the state's GDP. These investments create a multiplier effect, with each $1 invested generating $1.30 in additional economic activity. Research from Amazon and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania shows counties with Amazon facilities see median household incomes increase by more than $1,400 annually and poverty rates fall by 2.7 percent on average.
The Plainfield delivery station "continues Amazon's investment momentum in New England," officials said, following recent openings of:
- Fulfillment centers in Charlton and North Andover, Massachusetts and Johnston, Rhode Island
- Delivery stations in Worcester, Massachusetts and Caribou, Maine
"These facilities collectively strengthen Amazon's logistics network throughout the Northeast," Amazon officials said.
