Aldi plans to slash prices on nearly 25 percent of its selection across all of its more than 2,400 store locations, according to a news release posted to the company's website.

"Our customers count on Aldi for the lowest prices of any national grocer every day, and we never take that trust for granted," CEO Jason Hart said in a news release. "While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we're working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer's lineup of holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage. It's another way we're doubling down on our commitment to help shoppers fill their carts with great products for less."

The company noted dropping prices on more than 400 products should save Aldi customers $100 million this summer, according to savings estimates based on internal analysis of promotional pricing and projected sales volumes.

"Value isn't a trend at ALDI. It's been in our DNA since we opened our first store nearly 50 years ago," Chief Commercial Officer Scott Patton said in a news release. "This summer, we're going further to deliver more of what sets us apart, great products at the lowest possible prices. With price drops on the season's most-loved products in every aisle, we want to do what we can to help shoppers enjoy more of summer."

While the company did not list which specific products would see price cuts, the release highlighted items such as grass-fed ground beef burgers, baby back ribs, protein bars, fresh nectarines and Summit Popz prebiotic sodas

The company also noted shoppers will be able to find "even lower prices on trusted ALDI products" throughout the summer so they "don't need to choose between stocking up or breaking the bank."
