Longtime WFSB Anchor Irene O'Connor Departs for Public Relations Role

CONNECTICUT — Irene O'Connor, a familiar face at WFSB-TV for nearly 20 years, announced she is leaving the station to begin a new career in public relations.

A New Chapter

O'Connor revealed on Facebook that she has accepted a position as Director of Public Relations at Linked Media in West Hartford.

"After nearly 20 years at Channel 3, I am taking a new position as Director of Public Relations at Linked Media in West Hartford," O'Connor wrote. "I have loved every minute of working with my Channel 3 family, from morning shows to evening broadcasts. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes and for your kindness, especially when my twin sons were born!"

Career Highlights

O'Connor, a Hartford native, joined WFSB in 2005 and became co-anchor of Eyewitness News This Morning in 2007. In 2019, she transitioned to a freelance role, allowing her to spend more time with her twin sons.

Her career has taken her beyond Connecticut as well, with previous stints in Denver and Providence. At WFSB, she continued filling in across different shows after moving to freelance.
