WOLCOTT, CT — The body of a missing kayaker was found Sunday morning, police said.

The body of Dave Bourassa was recovered by members of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department, who had been "working tirelessly since Wednesday, in an effort to first rescue, then to recover Mr Bourassa," police said.

Bourassa had been reported missing on Wednesday in Bristol, and he was taken to the M. E. In Farmington.

"This is a sad ending, and our hearts go out (to) the Bourassa family. Thank you to all the first responders who assisted in this effort," police said.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of an overturned kayak at Scovill reservoir, and the lone occupant was missing. Police responded along with the fire department's rescue team. A dive team and a search dog and a drone were all utilized as part of the rescue efforts.
