Connecticut Among Worst States In Country For Renters
A blend of high costs and low rental availability means the outlook for renters is dim in Connecticut, according to a new study.
CONNECTICUT — Connecticut is the worst state in the country for renters, according to a study from Consumer Affairs.
"Connecticut is ranked lowest on this year’s list due to high costs and low rental availability," according to Consumer Affairs. "Though you might snag a good deal if you look hard enough, the median gross rental on a two-bedroom is $1,441, and the vacancy rate is 3.5%.
"Residents in Connecticut have one of the highest income-to-rent ratios in the country (32%), and the state has an unemployment rate (4.7%) above the national average."

The Consumer Affairs study noted that while renting can be a good option for people trying to save money to buy a house, it's increasingly expensive. A shortage of affordable homes combined with inflation and rising interest rates have made renting more difficult.
The report analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the Bureau of Labor.
