CPSC Recalls Products Posing Risks To CT Motorcyclists, Tots and More
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of several products that may be in Connecticut garages or child's bedrooms.
CONNECTICUT — The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled a few products that pose a danger to Connecticut toddlers and motorcyclists, among others, in the third week in April.

Kawasaki Motors USA has recalled model year 2025 KX450, KX450SR and KX450X competition and cross-country motorcycles due to a crash hazard caused by a defective gear. The motorcycles, made in Japan, were sold at authorized Kawasaki dealers nationwide from June 2024 through March 2025 for between $10,500 and $13,600. Owners should immediately stop using the recalled bikes and contact a Kawasaki dealer for a free repair.

About 23,260 children’s ride-on Tonka dump trucks, made by Huffy, have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards, according to the CSPC. Huffy, who imports the toys from China, has received three reports of the controller overheating, and one report of a fire that consumed the ride-on truck. No injuries have been reported. The toys were sold from June 2023 through March 2025 for about $300 at Target and Sam’s Club stores nationwide, and online at www.target.com and www.samsclub.com. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled children’s dump trucks and contact Huffy for a free replacement controller. Huffy is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Huffy has also recalled its Torex 24V Utility Terrain Vehicle ride-on toy for fire hazard issues as well. About 24,700 of the defective toys were sold exclusively at Walmart from August 2019 through December 2024 for between $500 and $600.

LuckupShein Window Roll Up Shades have long operating cords that can cause death or serious injury to children, due to strangulation and entanglement hazards, according to their recall notice. About 545 shades were sold from us.SHEIN.com between May 2023 and December 2024 for between $34 and $52. Colors were white, gray and black, and in sizes ranging between 20 and 44 inches wide and 72 inches high, “Desheng” is printed on the label on the top of the valance cover. Other recalled and potentially lethal window shades were sold on Amazon.com by BTAMREE from May 2021 through December 2024 for between $30 and $100. The recalled bamboo window blinds have long operating cords that can cause death or serious injury to children, due to strangulation and entanglement hazards, according to CSPC. Consumers should take a photograph of the window blinds destroyed in the garbage and upload the photo to sales@cy-bamboo.com to register their product and to receive a refund. About 20,380 units were sold.

Recalled lights from AliExpress online violate the mandatory federal regulations for consumer products designed to use button cell or coin batteries because the strip lights allow easy access by children to the lithium coin batteries, posing an ingestion hazard. About 390 units of the China import were sold from March 2024 through November 2024 for about $3. The color-changing, dimmable lights measure about 0.4 inches long and were sold in white, warm white, blue, ice blue, green, red, yellow, purple and pink. Deals Oasis has recalled its Shape Sorter Car Toys, determined to be a choking hazard. About 5,950 of the toys were sold at www.amazon.com from October 2023 through January 2025 for about $12. The wooden shape sorter cars include two wooden mallets and wooden pieces in various shapes, including balls, stars and hearts. The bottom of the car has a label with the words "BEDLEE BARGAIN, INC. BROOKLYN, NY BATCH NO. BEDLEE220801 PRODUCTION DATE: AUG 2022 MADE IN SHANGOU, CHINA." About 33,650 Sondiko butane torches with model number S400 were sold to customers in the U.S. on Amazon by Sondikodirt from October 2023 through March 2025. The brand name “Sondiko” is printed on the nozzle and the model number is on the head of the torch. The company has recalled the firestarters, manufactured in China, as they do not have the required child-resistant mechanisms, posing a risk of serious burn injuries or death to children.
