2 Killed In Crashes Over Christmas Weekend; Speeding Violations Increased In 2022 Stats

State police responded to fewer crashes this Christmas traveling timeframe compared with last year.

CONNECTICUT — State police had a busy holiday weekend with 268 reported crashes on state roads and highways.

Twenty of those crashes involved injuries and two involved fatalities. State police issued 162 speeding violation tickets and 15 DUI arrests. Enforcement figures are from midnight Friday to just before midnight Monday.

Connecticut was hit with a winter storm Friday that left many roadways icy and knocked out power to more than 100,000 utility customers.
