CT Meteorologist Announces New Job At CT Station

The veteran weather forecaster and Connecticut native recently left another station in the state.

It did not take long for meteorologist Scott Gagliardi, who left WFSB-TV earlier this month, to find a new weather home.

In a Facebook post this week, the Connecticut native announced that he has joined the team at Channel 8.

"The timing couldn’t be better to return to the green screen and continue forecasting for the people and places that make Connecticut home," Gagliardi wrote on the heels of Thursday's big rainstorm. "I’m thrilled to officially share that I’ve joined the Storm Team 8 Weather Team at WTNH News 8 in New Haven!"

Gagliardi had been working in Florida, at WCJB, TV20 News in Gainesville, before joining Channel 3 last year, where he was a weekend meteorologist and a weekday reporter.

He graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Meteorology, and has long dreamed of calling the weather in his home state.

"This one truly feels full circle — it’s a station I grew up watching, and to now be part of the same team I once looked up to as a kid is something I’ll never take for granted," Gagliardi wrote of his new job at Channel 8. "I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to bring you the forecasts that matter most to Connecticut.

"As many of you know, I’m a big shoreline guy, so being based in the heart of the greater New Haven area feels like the perfect fit. And let’s be honest… being surrounded by some of the best pizza in the country doesn’t hurt either. Zero room for discussion!"

Fans and colleagues were thrilled of his move to WTNH.

"Welcome to News 8, Meteorologist Scott Gagliardi!" wrote anchor Laura Hutchinson in the comments. "Awesome seeing you today. You fit right in already!"

"To everyone who’s followed my journey, supported my work, believed in me, or simply tuned in over the years — thank you," Gagliardi wrote. "Your encouragement means more than you know. This next chapter is just beginning… and I can’t wait to share it with you all."
