CT Snapchat Transaction Results In Shooting: Police

A Woodstock resident is facing multiple charges after a man was shot in the leg, according to state police.

EASTFORD, CT — A man was shot in the leg while meeting a Woodstock teen for a transaction arranged through Snapchat, state police said.

Police received a 911 call on Saturday around 8:50 p.m. that a man had been shot and robbed.

Troopers went to the Eastford Fire Department, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency medical personnel provided aid, then took the victim to an area hospital, state police said.

The victim told police he had arranged to meet someone he only knows as “Adoty” through Snapchat for a transaction. He said the attacker entered his vehicle, produced a handgun, shot him, then fled the scene with another male in a silver Volvo.

Eastern District Major Crime Detectives secured the victim’s vehicle.

Police found a secondary crime scene on Mill Bridge Road, where they collected evidence including suspected marijuana, vape cartridges, clothing, and a high capacity 9mm magazine, according to police.

Investigators identified a Woodstock man, King Michael Adoty, 19, as the suspect. According to police, Adoty was interviewed on Sunday and admitted his involvement in the shooting, and he said he discarded the firearm while fleeing the scene.

Adoty was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, second-degree reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.

Adoty was held on a $250,000 cash surety bond, and he is due to be arraigned in Superior Court in Danielson on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
