CT Sportscaster Lands New Job Out Of State
He had reported on sports in Connecticut since 2019.
Matt Finkel, a sportscaster with WVIT-TV/NBC Connecticut since 2019, is leaving the station for a new job with Detroit CBS affiliate WWJ, Finkel's talent agency, Mort Meisner Associates, announced.
"Matt comes to the Motor City from NBC [owned and operated] WVIT in Hartford, where he worked in the same role," the agency wrote.
Finkel, a New Jersey native and award-winning sportscaster, helmed the sports desk for NBC Connecticut's 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.

His leaving is the latest in a string of departures from the station this year, including Amanda Pitts, Caitlin Burchill, and Shannon Miller
In 2022, Finkel was named Connecticut Sportscaster of the Year by the National Media Sports Association, and he is also a seven-time honoree by the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists.

Finkel has also won three New England Emmy Awards for his reporting.
He graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Finance from the university's Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Whitman School of Management.
Finkel's first media job with MLB Network, where he was a broadcast associate, and went on to land positions with West Ohio Sports Network in Lima, Ohio, and WDVM-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland.
