CONNECTICUT — The state Department of Consumer Protection issued a warning this week about a new scam in which fraudsters are impersonating its employees and divisions.

“Government impersonation scams aim to deceive consumers through email, phone calls and even letters sent through the mail,” said DCP Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli.

The scammers’ goal is to steal personal information and money, according to the department.
