CONNECTICUT — It’s been a harsh winter so far, with freezing temperatures and frequent bouts of snow and ice since mid-November. But relief is finally on the horizon, with a gradual warm-up leading to spring-like temperatures next week.

Cold Friday Before the Warm-Up

Friday will remain frigid, with bright but cold and windy conditions. According to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists:

"We end the work week today bright, but cold and windy. Temps, once again, peak at levels below average. And don’t forget the wind! It will feel colder! Highs will be between 30 and 35, but will feel more like 15-25!"

Weekend Gradual Warm-Up

Starting Saturday, temperatures will finally exceed freezing. Sunday will be even milder, reaching 40 degrees:

"If you like dry, calmer, and milder weather... you’ll like the weekend forecast! Temperatures head well into the mid/upper 30s tomorrow under ample sunshine. By Sunday, highs top the 40-degree mark despite a cloudier sky. For comparison, 40 is now the average high for the Hartford Area," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

Spring-Like Temperatures Next Week

The warming trend continues into next week, with temperatures nearing 50 degrees:

"Monday, we’re forecasting highs in the mid-40s. We’re going up a few degrees from there on Tuesday, perhaps close to 50 inland. While milder, Tuesday also appears cloudier. It appears any chance for rain would be late in the day, or at night. Thereafter, temps Wednesday will again be near 50 under a mix of sun and clouds. By Thursday, we’ll likely see an increase in cloudiness with perhaps the chance for late-day showers," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).

Looking Ahead

This warming trend serves as a reminder that better weather is ahead. While winter isn’t over yet, Connecticut residents can look forward to a much-needed break from the deep freeze in the coming days.
