Find out the latest timing and expected snow totals, according to forecasters.
Meteorologists are tracking a widespread and potentially “disruptive” winter storm for later this week, though the heaviest precipitation is currently expected to miss Connecticut.
According to the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center, a storm will produce snow over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians and Northeast starting Wednesday and lasting into Friday.

Michael Main, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, said the offshore storm system’s potential impact on Connecticut is from Thursday evening and night and into Friday morning.
“Most of the heavy precipitation will stay out to sea, but there could be snow showers in the state,” Main said.

Potential snow accumulation estimates
Snowfall accumulation in Connecticut is expected to be “light,” with possibly a couple of inches of snow, according to Main.
WFSB also reports it is keeping an eye on the possibility of a coastal storm Thursday into Friday.
“Latest data is showing the center of the storm farther offshore... which means less snow for us,” WFSB reports. “At the moment, we’re expecting periods of light snow beginning Thursday afternoon, with a few snow showers lasting through Friday morning.”

Forecasters say they will have better estimates on the amount of precipitation from the system as the week progresses.
“This storm's complex evolution is keeping a number of possible scenarios on the table,” the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center reported Monday.
The placement and strength of an upper low is unknown, and these will dictate which areas will get the heaviest precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.
It predicts any snow from the system will move out by mid-day Friday, followed by partly sunny skies.
