Fleeing Motorist Hits, Injures 2 Plainville Cops: PD
The officers suffered minor injuries, according to police.
PLAINVILLE, CT — Two police officers suffered minor injuries Sunday afternoon when a fleeing motorist hit them with a car door, according to police.
At 4:08 p.m. on Jan. 11, police were alerted to a hit on a stolen Connecticut license plate.
The license plate was on a silver Honda Accord entering Plainville on New Britain Avenue, police said. Police confirmed the license plate was registered to a brown Honda, not a silver one.

Officers found the vehicle with the stolen plate parked in a handicapped spot near PetSmart at 278 New Britain Ave., according to police.
Police saw a man and a woman enter the vehicle. When they approached the male driver, the man attempted to close the vehicle door and flee, police said.

Officers tried to remove the male driver from the vehicle. According to police, the driver “placed the car in reverse and speedily drove backwards with the driver’s side door still ajar.”
The door hit the two officers, and both sustained minor injuries, according to police.
The Honda fled eastbound onto Rte. 72. Police pursued it, then lost sight of it on I-84 East in New Britain, police said.
The male driver is described as light-skinned, about 6-feet tall, wearing clear eyeglasses, a ski mask and a zip-up hooded sweatshirt.
The female passenger is light-skinned and about 5 feet 9 inches tall. She was wearing gray sweatpants and a blue pull over hooded sweatshirt.
Police estimate both suspects are in their early 20’s.
