CT Weather: Heat Advisory Issued, Storm Chances Dominate Forecast

Here are new updates on what impacts the remnants of Beryl will have on Connecticut too.

CONNECTICUT — A heat advisory is in effect for most of Connecticut on Wednesday, and a hazardous weather outlook has also been issued for southern Connecticut by the National Weather Service.

"There is a low probability for widespread hazardous weather that would meet NWS warning criteria," the weather service said concerning southern Connecticut.

It will feel in excess of 100 degrees in parts of Connecticut on Wednesday. No heat advisory has been issued for coastal sections of Middlesex and New London counties.

The weather service said showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night, and an "isolated severe thunderstorm is possible." Localized flash flooding is possible too. Air quality alerts have also been issued for southern Connecticut.

It looks like beginning late Wednesday and through Saturday there will be chances for showers and storms, but there will also be plenty of periods of sunshine too. It looks like the heat and humidity will dip a bit beginning on Thursday but climb again on Sunday.

In the National Weather Service daily forecast, which can be viewed below, it shows a chance for showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, Thursday night, Friday afternoon and night, and Saturday afternoon.

"Today is another First Alert Weather Day due to the continuation of heat and humidity reaching dangerously high levels," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "The Heat Advisory that encompasses a large part of CT is in effect until this evening at 8pm. After any morning fog burns off, we again expect high temperatures to reach 90 or higher and in doing so, our 2nd heat wave of the year will go into day #4! Like yesterday, the heat index (or ‘feels like’ temp) will reach 95-100, perhaps higher in a few spots, thanks to oppressive dew point values (well into the 70s)."

"High pressure positioned near Bermuda, with clockwise flow around it, will keep pumping warm and humid air our way. It will also help to deflect the remnants of Beryl to our northwest. With CT positioned between the remnant low and the Bermuda high, the pressure gradient tightens leading to breezy conditions into tomorrow. While there could be an early morning shower tomorrow, things look a little bit better than today in terms of heat and humidity under partly to mostly sunny skies," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said.
