New Timeline, Updated Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For CT
A new timeline for light snow has been released for Thursday, and here is why it could cause issues on the roads. Here are the new details.
CONNECTICUT — Light snow is forecast to fall Thursday night across Connecticut and up to an inch of accumulation is possible.
"Snow accumulations forecast of near 0.5 to 1 inch will stick to untreated surfaces, causing slippery conditions and potential impacts to late evening commute as well as Friday morning commute," the National Weather Service said Thursday evening for southern Connecticut.
In northern Connecticut, snow showers are forecast after 7 p.m. and an inch of accumulation is possible.

A wind advisory has been issued for northern Connecticut on Friday. Wind gusts could approach 55 mph, the weather service said.
"After sunset and the evening commute, light snow is likely with minor accumulations possible. We’re thinking 1-2″ across the northern tier of the state, especially over the higher terrain near the MA border. Across the southern tier, we anticipate a coating of snow where it falls. Tomorrow, we end the week bright and windy with highs near 40. A few lake effect snow showers may survive the trip into western CT," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologist Mark Dixon with Melissa Cole. There is a 50 percent chance of snow on Saturday, and the weather service said 1–2 inches of snow is possible in coastal sections of Fairfield County.
"There is a chance for forecast snowfall amounts to be 1 to 2 inches higher than forecast if low pressure trends farther northward. There is growing potential for light accumulations of snow Saturday morning, that would create slippery conditions for any untreated surfaces and thereby impact the Saturday morning commute," the weather service said, concerning coastal sections of Fairfield County.
