Major Storm To Bring Snow, Wind, Heavy Rain To CT: Here's When, What To Know
Parts of Connecticut may see accumulating snow this week. Here are new details on a long-duration major storm.
CONNECTICUT — A long duration, strong storm will impact our weather from Tuesday through Thursday and it could drop a few inches of rain, significant wind gusts, and even a few inches of snow on parts of the state.
The rain is forecast to develop on Tuesday, especially during the afternoon hours. Precipitation is forecast to continue through Thursday afternoon.
"As the day progresses, you’ll need the umbrella as rain becomes likely as a storm system heads our way," said WFSB 3 TV chief meteorologist Mark Dixon with Scot Haney. "Temperatures will be cooler than yesterday as they only peak in the upper 40s and lower 50s. For comparison, the normal high is 54 for the Hartford Area."

"As an area of low pressure moves into the Great Lakes tomorrow, a secondary low develops off the Delmarva Peninsula. This 2nd low ramps up the coverage and intensity of rain, also the wind later in the day and at night. Our First Alert continues due to renewed flooding concerns from 1-2″ of rain with locally higher amounts, wind gusts 40+ mph, and even some snow. The amount of snow depends on the storm track," Dixon and Haney said.
"For now, accumulations appear minor and confined to highest elevations of NW and NE CT," Dixon and Haney said. "Regardless, it will be raw during the middle of the week with highs tomorrow and Thursday ranging from the upper 30s to lower 40s, that will feel chillier with the wind. The rain or snow showers on Thursday will be more isolated in nature, and while breezy it won’t be *as* windy...By Friday, while there could be lingering, isolated showers… we start to dry out, but remain breezy.
