CT Weather: More Thunderstorms, Heat Wave Forecast This Week

Here is when CT can expect its next round of thunderstorms, and new details on our next heat wave.

CONNECTICUT — By Tuesday afternoon, thunderstorms return to the forecast for Connecticut and beginning on Wednesday we are expected to begin our next heat wave with temperatures rising above 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are forecast to be above 90 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday afternoon and on Friday this week.

"...starting today we begin a slow uphill climb back into some oppressive & tropical humidity by the end of this week," wrote WFSB 3 TV meteorologists Jill Gilardi and Lorin Richardson. They also said that on Monday afternoon there is a chance for afternoon "pop-up showers and storms mainly for areas west of I-91." Most areas will remain dry, the meteorologists said.

On Tuesday, "some showers and storms will be possible during the afternoon and early evening hours (this looks a little more widespread but still nothing significant)," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said.

"We’ll be approaching “heat advisory” criteria on Thursday and Friday as well. Highs in the 90s but feeling around 100 degrees," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. "A heat advisory is issued when daytime heat indices of 95-99 degrees are expected for 2 or more hours over 2 consecutive days, or when heat indices of 100-104 degrees are expected for 2 or more hours over 1 day."
