Snow In New Year’s Eve Forecast For CT, Here’s What To Know

Major changes are quickly approaching Connecticut after near 50-degree temperatures to start the week.

The weather forecast for New Year’s Eve includes a chance for snow showers, according to meteorologists.

Today’s rain, fog and warm temperatures will be followed by a big dip in temperatures tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

The precipitation is expected to end around 4 p.m. today, with temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 40s.

A cold front arrives later this afternoon. Tonight, temperatures dip below freezing, with a low of around 22 degrees in Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service, which reports a “slight” chance of snow showers after midnight.

“Wind gusts increase, and a few snow showers track across CT,” WFSB reports.

Tuesday is expected to be dry, chilly and windy.

The National Weather Service predicts Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s, a west wind of up to 23 miles per hour, and gusts as high as 50 miles per hour.

“High temperatures will be at-or-below freezing,” WFSB reports.

WFSB predicts potential gusts of over 40 miles per hour, making it feel like it is in the teens.

“The rest of the week is looking relatively quiet, with temperatures below average and a few chances for some flurries or snow showers. The best chance to see some snow showers is on New Year’s Eve night into the morning of New Year’s Day,” WFSB reports.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be mostly cloudy during the day, with high temperatures around freezing. It also predicts a chance of snow showers Wednesday night, or New Year’s Eve, with the timing between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. on Thursday.

New Year's Day is expected to be mostly sunny and cold, with highs in the mid-to-upper-20s, the National Weather Service reports.
