Next Strong Storm Emerges For CT: Here's When, What To Expect
It's shaping up to be another wild week of weather in Connecticut and another strong storm has emerged in the forecast.
CONNECTICUT — Another strong storm is forecast to impact our weather on Tuesday night and Wednesday in Connecticut.
This storm appears to be all rain and will include strong wind gusts and up to two inches of rain.
Temperatures will soar to near 60 degrees on Wednesday and then drop into the upper 30s on Thursday as cold air moves back in. But the good news is that the weekend appears warmer and Sunday looks sunny.

On Tuesday, "Cloud cover increases during the afternoon hours as a storm system from the west heads our way, the wind also becomes breezier. We’re dry through the daylight hours, then scattered rain showers will be possible after sunset," said WFSB 3 TV chief meteorologist Mark Dixon.

"Wednesday, as we’ve been forecasting, will be unsettled and timing/impacts are coming into better focus from a potent storm system," Dixon said. "A round of rain is likely through the morning, then we anticipate a lull in the wake of a warm front. It will also be windier, with gusts over 30 mph out of the south/southwest as a cold front approaches.
"We’ve issued a First Alert for Wednesday night, as this is when we expect the strongest wind and heaviest rain with the arrival and passage of the cold front (likely before midnight)," Dixon added. "It’s in this timeframe wind gusts could reach or exceed 40 mph, behind the front the wind becomes northwesterly sending colder air our way. As rain ends, it could briefly switch over to light snow as we’ll see temperatures go from near 50 into the 20s."
"By the Thursday AM commute, we’ll wake up to a brighter sky. You’ll need the winter coat, also sunglasses. Temperatures start in the 20s then during the afternoon only peak in the 30s. But with a gusty wind, it will feel colder! Not a fan? Well, the shot of colder air is short lived. Meteorological spring begins on Friday (March 1st), and temperatures should be closer to average with highs between 40 and 45. We should start the day mostly sunny, then become partly cloudy during the afternoon hours," Dixon said.

"There is some uncertainty surrounding rain chances over the Saturday/Sunday timeframe," Dixon said. A weak area of low pressure appears to be in our vicinity early Saturday, because of this we can’t rule out the chance for a shower. Thereafter, we’re forecasting a mix of sun and clouds. When it comes to Sunday, for now, we’re going optimistically dry… but may need to add a chance for showers. Regardless, both weekend days will be mild with highs in the 50s.
