Thunderstorms Forecast On Memorial Day In CT: Here's When, What To Know

Here is the timeline, new details regarding stormy weather conditions on Memorial Day in Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — The weather has been largely beautiful this Memorial Day weekend, but that changes Monday.

Memorial Day itself won't be a washout during the day, but it will be cloudy with some occasional rain showers, but heavy rain and thunderstorms move in tonight. We could see a quick inch of rain by Tuesday morning and some strong storms are also possible.

"Memorial Day starts off with locally dense fog along with a few showers in the morning and then again during the afternoon hours," said WFSB 3 TV Meteorologist Jill Gilardi. "The heaviest rain and a few storms hold off until the evening and overnight hours. A bit cooler with highs in the 70s.

"The Storm Prediction Center has western CT in a Marginal Risk for severe weather, meaning some storms that form along the NY/CT state border could have strong winds with them. The Weather Prediction Center has all of CT in a Level 1 risk for excessive rainfall, indicating we may see a period of locally heavy rain overnight Monday into Tuesday morning leading to poor drainage flooding and ponding on roadways and this is why we have gone ahead and issued a FIRST ALERT. Impacts to travel and outdoor activities!" Gilardi added. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
