Thunderstorms, Rain Dominate CT's Weather Forecast: Here Are The New Details

There are several upcoming chances for thunderstorms in Connecticut. Here are the new updates and when to expect the storms and rain.

CONNECTICUT — If you look at the daily weather forecast for Connecticut from the National Weather Service, which you can view below, you may feel a tad depressed.

The forecast shows that rain showers and thunderstorms are possible for the next several days, and the chances for sun are limited.

Meteorologists say they don't expect any specific day to be a washout, but there is a chance for rain showers and some storms to pop up quickly. We'll also notice the heat and humidity building, too.

Some light and very scattered rain showers are possible Thursday midday, but "more moderate showers may end up mixing in" later in the day, WFSB 3 TV forecasters said.

"(Friday) will be much muggier and a little warmer, near 80 inland and in the 70s at the shoreline. The increased warmth and moisture will support a few showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. The highest chance is in western CT, and the risk for severe weather remains low. Most towns, at this point, look to stay dry through most of the day. This should be helpful for anyone heading to the Travelers."

Weekend forecast details

"Both Saturday and Sunday will feature the risk of showers or storms in the afternoon," wrote Meteorologist Mike Slifer with Scot Haney. "Saturday may feature more showers through the morning than Sunday, but both days will have storm activity in the afternoon. At this point, a strong storm cannot be ruled out, but there are no big signals for widespread severe weather. Sunday may have a slightly higher chance of a strong storm developing as we will have more energy to use. Both days will be muggy and warmer with temps in the 80s."

Next week

"Clouds will be prevalent both Monday and Tuesday. Monday’s shower or storm risk will be similar to the weekend, with scattered development likely in the afternoon. Tuesday will be a bit wetter, with some steadier and heavier rain possible. Areas that see repeated rainfall from showers and storms may end up with a bit of a flooding risk. With some luck, we should get a break in the action on Wednesday," wrote Slifer and Haney. (Watch the full WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here).
