Next Severe Weather Threat Emerges: Here's When, What To Know In CT

Our next severe weather threat has emerged in the forecast for Connecticut. Here's what you need to know.

CONNECTICUT — Our next chance for severe weather is on Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the latest forecast updates for Connecticut.

"We’ve upgraded Wednesday to a *First Alert Weather Day because of an increase in heat and humidity, also the threat for storms that could be strong/severe as a more substantial cold front moves into/through the region," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

"Prior to any storminess, temperatures warm into the 90s inland, but with dew point values in the lower 70s it will more like 95-100! The greatest risk for severe weather is to our west, but we’ll have to monitor any development that could pop up during the afternoon. Coverage increases toward/through the evening hours. Gusty wind, heavy rain, hail …are all possible. In the *region* an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Connecticut in the level 1 of out 5 for severe weather, except lower Fairfield County that’s at a level 2. Parts of CT are also under the level 1 risk for excessive rain," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said.

"The front clears the state Thursday morning, taking any lingering showers with it. As drier air moves in on a west-northwesterly wind, humidity levels drop as afternoon temps top out in the mid-80s under increasing sunshine," WFSB 3 TV forecasters said. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
