CT Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued, 60 MPH Wind Gusts
Once the thunderstorms depart late Wednesday, we'll finally see an end to our latest heat wave.
CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Connecticut up until 8 p.m.
Once the storms move through, the heat and humidity should begin to break up.
Original post: CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service said Connecticut could see severe weather on Wednesday afternoon and the "primary hazard with storms are damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph."

Additionally, Wednesday is the official end of the latest heat wave. Once again, it will feel in excess of 100 degrees.
"Today is another First Alert Weather Day for not only the dangerous combination of heat and high humidity (pushing heat index values near/above 100), but for storms late in the day that could be strong to severe," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

"As a cold front approaches, the storm threat increases late afternoon/early evening. Storms that develop will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and frequent lightning," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Behind the front that triggers storms later today? According to WFSB 3 TV weather graphic, it appears storms will be most widespread after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 96. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Some of the storms could be severe. Low around 72. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 85. North wind around 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88.
