Severe Storms, Tornadoes Possible Due To Debby's Impacts: New Details Released
As Friday progresses, the weather will quickly change, and here are the new updates on potential severe weather for Connecticut.
UPDATE: A tornado watch has been issued for Hartford and Litchfield counties until 10 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
CONNECTICUT — The remnants of Debby will "bring a period of heavy rain, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, (and) strong winds" to the area through Friday night, the National Weather Service said.
Between 1–2 inches of rain is forecast through early Saturday, but three inches is possible in spots. Rainfall rates will be between a half inch to one inch of rain per hour this afternoon into tonight, the weather service said.

There is an "isolated flash flood threat" for the state. "Saturated grounds from recent rainfall could exacerbate flood impacts," the weather service added.
Wind gusts between 20-30 mph are expected with some gusts up to 45 mph this afternoon into tonight, and some power outages are possible too.

"Potential for isolated to scattered severe storms with damaging winds gusts and brief tornadoes, mainly this afternoon into tonight," the weather service added.
"As Debby’s remnants move by CT, a cold front approaches from the west and picks up what is left of the storm. In advance of it, the southerly flow strengthens sending a tropical air mass in our direction. Wind gusts could easily exceed 30 mph. Our *First Alert* is now through midnight. In this window, tropical downpours are likely… and there’s a low-end risk for an isolated severe storm, perhaps even a brief tornado.
"There is currently a Wind Advisory in effect through 6am on Saturday for towns right along the immediate shoreline. Sustained winds of 15-25mph look likely with gusts up to 50mph possible! This is certainly strong enough to cause some damage to tree limbs possibly leading to a few isolated power outages.
"By daybreak Saturday, rain should be over with lingering cloudiness eroding. It stays a bit breezy with increasing sunshine and decreasing humidity, expect high temps to top out between 80 and 85. Sunday also looks great, with highs near 80." (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
