Original post: CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service on Monday afternoon just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire state until 7 p.m.
The weather service said, "Possible severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail today into early this evening. Marginal flood risk with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms."
Additionally, the weather service said in southern Connecticut that the best chance for severe thunderstorms is across southeast Connecticut.
Storms could produce rainfall rates up to an inch per hour and "Isolated flash flood potential where multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms occur, mainly for parts of SE Connecticut..."
Specifically for northern Connecticut, the weather service said, "Today, expect scattered severe thunderstorms mainly from 12pm to 9pm. These storms could bring damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rainfall, possibly leading to urban flooding. Stay weather-aware..."
More storms are forecast on Wednesday and Wednesday night. The mains concerns are "damaging winds and large hail," the weather service said.
The good news is that once the stormy weather ends, Thursday, Friday and Sunday looks great with comfortable temperatures and sunny skies. Saturday looks cloudy with a less than 50 percent chance of some rain showers.
