Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For Day After Christmas Storm In CT
Snow accumulation estimates have just dropped for Connecticut's next storm. Here's when to expect the snow and how much is forecast.
The National Weather Service has released its initial snow accumulation estimate map on Christmas Eve for an upcoming storm on Friday afternoon, which will conclude on Saturday morning.
It looks like Connecticut will once again be on the fringes of a storm, which means areas in south-western Connecticut will see the most snow, as of now.
The weather service is predicting 3 inches of snow in Fairfield County and just into western parts of New Haven County, and then 2 inches of snow for most of the remainder of the state, but just an inch of snow in eastern Connecticut, including most of New London and Windham counties.

Timeline for snow, and why the accumulation estimates are tricky
"We’re dry during the day (on Friday), then snow is possible at night," according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "We’ll be monitoring the track of a disturbance that will pass from the Great Lakes into the Mid-Atlantic region. This will put CT on the edge or cusp of measurable snow. As of now, it’s SW CT that could get clipped. That being said, there have been notable shifts in path over the past couple of days… if it were to go farther north, that would lead to a greater likelihood for snow statewide – stay tuned!"
