CT Weather: Winter Storm Watch Issued For Accumulating Snow Sunday
A winter storm watch has been issued for seven counties across Connecticut as up to eight inches of snow is forecast.
CONNECTICUT — A winter storm watch has been issued for Hartford, Tolland, Windham, and Litchfield counties as there is a good chance for six or more inches of snow.
Additionally, a winter storm watch has also been issued for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties.
For coastal sections of southern Connecticut and northern sections of New London County, "accumulating snow" is still possible but some rain is expected to mix in which could keep snow totals down here, the National Weather Service said.

"The snow at this time is expected to mix with or begin as rain keeping amounts lower, however travel is expected to be difficult towards late Sunday and Sunday night as much cold air begins to work in," the weather service said for coastal sections of southern Connecticut. About 4 to 5 inches of snow is forecast in coastal sections of southern Connecticut and northern parts of New London County.
For interior sections of Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties, the weather service said "Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches possible....Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult."

In Hartford/Tolland/Windham counties, a winter storm watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. "Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches possible."
In Litchfield County, a winter storm watch has been issued and "snow accumulations of 7 inches or more possible."
Timing
Snow and rain is forecast to begin sometime after 1 p.m. and the storm will wrap up by early Monday morning, according to forecasters. The changeover to all snow is expected after 4 p.m. Sunday.
