CT Weather: Snow Accumulation Estimates Decrease For Wednesday
Snow accumulation estimates have decreased based on the latest data, according to local meteorologists.
CONNECTICUT — After a decent sized snowstorm last week, it looks like we're back to our regularly scheduled winter programming of very little snow events.
Some areas of Connecticut received snow squalls Tuesday, and it looks like our next snow event, can't really call it a snowstorm, is forecast for late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.
"A more notable chance or round of snow comes tonight into the predawn hours of tomorrow as a clipper passes through New England," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "New data has shifted the greatest accumulation north so we have adjusted our snowfall forecast to match up. By sunrise, a coating to 1″ of snow will be on the ground, but mainly across northern CT. It’s notable, given our lackluster season so far, also because of the role it will have on the morning commute. This is one reason we’ve declared a First Alert Weather Day for tomorrow, though if data keeps trending northward, we will drop the alert. In the wake of the snow, we’ll see at least partial clearing and with a southwesterly flow, temps briefly head into the 40s. Additional rain/mix/snow showers develop during the day and if it is cold enough by the evening commute, snow squalls will be a risk as a stronger cold front pushes through the state --- another reason for our First Alert Weather Day. Keep in mind any snow squall that develops can quickly drop visibility and produce a coating of snow making things slick.(Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
