Wild Weather Changes Forecast: Snow, Hail, Thunder, And Rain All Possible In CT

It's going to be a wild few days of weather for us as significant changes are on the way. Here are the new details and timeline.

CONNECTICUT — The weather for the next couple of days more resembles winter as opposed to an early spring forecast.

Connecticut could see a range of weather Wednesday and Thursday, including some snowflakes in parts of the state, hail, thunder, major temperature changes, and strong wind gusts.

We'll reach 50 degrees on Wednesday, but by the afternoon hours conditions will change rapidly.

"The front will cross this afternoon, with increased chances for showers in the late afternoon and early evening. There’s even a chance for graupel (snow pellets) or small hail! A few isolated rumbles of thunder are possible too," said WFSB 3 TV chief meteorologist Mark Dixon with Mike Slifer.

"As the front moves through, the wind intensifies out of the northwest. Temperatures tonight will fall into the 20s inland and 30s along the shoreline. Blustery northwest winds will put wind chills in the teens tomorrow morning, so bundle up!" Dixon and Slifer said.

Litchfield County could see a coating of snow Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. More snowflakes are possible this weekend in Connecticut.

Thursday's cold and windy weather conditions

"Tomorrow, we’ll start out with temps in the mid to upper 20s that will feel more like the teens when taking into account the wind. Clouds give way to increasing sunshine and by the afternoon, temps only peak in the upper 30s and lower 40s (but with the wind, it will feel more like the 20s). It will be our chilliest day of the week, also our windiest with gusts over 30 mph possible," Dixon and Slifer said.

Rainy Saturday Forecast Details

"While some flakes could mix in at the onset over the Hills of NW CT, this will be rain for most of the state from beginning to end. Plan for a soggier day, with periods of rain (that could be heavier at times). Because it’s the first weekend offspring, we’ve issued a First Alert since as outdoor activities will be impacted. By the time the rain ends, we could pick up between 1 and 2 inches, perhaps locally higher amounts (for now, flooding is not a concern… we’ll be the first to let you know if that changes)," Dixon and Slifer said.
