CT Weather: Thunderstorms To Create Flooding Concerns Friday/Saturday
The National Weather Service has posted watches for Connecticut, as weather conditions should rapidly change. Here are the new details.
CONNECTICUT — Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to produce "heavy downpours" on Friday afternoon through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Flash flood conditions are possible, and a flood watch has been issued for most of Connecticut.
The weather service said 1 to 2 inches and possibly up to 3 inches of rain is possible.

Regarding their confidence in the forecast, the weather service said, "There is moderate/high confidence in showers and thunderstorms developing, but there remains some uncertainty on the exact placement of the axis of heaviest rainfall. An expansion of the Flood Watch into the rest of southern Connecticut may be needed should the expected axis of heaviest rainfall spread eastward."

"...for our Friday, expect mugginess to return; there’s also a chance for isolated showers or storms. Regardless, we’ll likely end the week with more clouds than sunshine, keeping temps from reaching 90, therefore ending our current heat wave," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said.

"While high pressure positioned near Bermuda deflected the remnants of Beryl to our northwest, it will likely send this plume of tropical moisture in our general direction. Because of the likely impacts to outdoor plans from showers (perhaps downpours, and some rumbles of thunder), we’ve issued a First Alert Weather Day for tomorrow. A Flood Watch has been posted for all of Northern CT and Fairfield CT for late tonight through the day tomorrow. Most of the state is currently in a Level 2 risk on the Excessive Rain Outlook. High temperatures will be a factor of sunshine or lack thereof. For now we’re forecasting highs in the mid-80s. By Sunday, we’re trending drier and brighter. Also, it will be noticeably hotter with highs back in the 90-95 range! This is likely when our 3rd heat wave of the year commences." (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
