CT Weather: Timeline, New Details Released As Storm System Approaches

Forecasters say major weather forecast changes are approaching for Connecticut beginning next week. Here's what we can expect.

CONNECTICUT — Inland and northern sections of Connecticut are still looking at a brief period of a wintry mix late Thursday and early Friday, according to the latest forecast updates.

Coastal areas of the state will see just plain rain on Thursday night and Friday. It looks like we'll remain relatively cold through the upcoming weekend. The weekend does look dry and sunny but high temperatures only in the 30s.

"Thursday, we start out with some sun, then we’ll see an increase in cloud cover as a storm system approaches from the west," said WFSB 3 TV Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon. "We’re dry through the daylight hours; but at night, while there could be a brief period of a wintry mix at the onset, it’s scattered rain showers for most. We end the week with scattered showers Friday with highs in the mid-40s."

"The upcoming weekend is still dry. Saturday is blustery in the wake of Friday’s storm system," Dixon added. "We’re forecasting highs in the mid-30s under a mostly sunny sky. However, with the wind will make it feel more like 15-25! Gusts could top 30 mph. Sunday is breezy (not *as* windy) and dry, but temps should warm back to near or just above 40. Cloud cover increases later in the day."

"Monday starts with clouds and some of our model guidance is indicating a chance for light rain early in the day. Otherwise, we should see increasing sunshine with highs near 50. Temps go even milder Tuesday, despite our sky becoming overcast with a chance for rain later in the day," Dixon added. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
