Timeline, New Details For Thunderstorms In CT Released: Here's What You Need To Kno
Here are new details regarding when and where to expect thunderstorms in Connecticut, according to forecasters.
CONNECTICUT — Connecticut may see a round of thunderstorms and rain this evening, mainly between 5 p.m. and midnight, according to forecasters.
"There’s a chance of a few passing showers before 4 pm, but otherwise, expect dry conditions with a mix of sun and clouds," WFSB 3 TV Meteorologist Sam Kantrow said. "...Shower coverage will become more scattered in the evening, with a few strong storms possible to the west of I-91.
"However, the setup doesn’t seem ideal for severe weather as the arrival of low-level moisture and dew points in the lower to middle 50s is expected after dark, limiting instability," Kantrow added. "The development of strong or severe storms is challenging under these conditions. It’s important to monitor how things progress during the day as models provide only limited information, and conditions can change quickly.

"If a severe storm were to form, there is a low-end chance for strong wind gusts and even a tornado," Kantrow added. "The Storm Prediction Center has western CT under a marginal risk, with a slight and enhanced risk to the west....Showers and a few storms are expected to move southward across the state, exiting the I-95 corridor around midnight. Rainfall amounts are forecasted to range from 0.10 to 0.30 inches." (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
