CONNECTICUT — On Thursday night, inland sections of southern Connecticut and northern sections of the state may see a mix of snow, sleet and rain that is forecast to transition to plain rain around midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

It's expected that the coastal towns will only see plain rain for the duration of this latest storm. The rain should be off and on for much of Friday.

"Past sunset and more so at night, while there could be a brief period of a wintry mix at the onset over the higher terrain of inland CT, it’s scattered rain showers that become likely elsewhere. We end the week unsettled with scattered rain showers Friday and highs in the mid-40s. Rain departs in the afternoon on Friday, so the umbrella can stay home if you have evening plans," said WFSB 3 TV chief meteorologist Mark Dixon with Mike Slifer.

A winter feel for the upcoming weekend

"The upcoming weekend is dry and bright. However, Saturday is blustery in the wake of Friday’s storm system. We’re forecasting highs in the low to mid-30s under a mostly sunny sky. Taking into account the wind, it feel more like 15-25! Gusts could top 30 mph. Sunday is breezy (not *as* windy) and dry, but temps should warm back to near or just above 40. Cloud cover increases later in the day as milder air heads our way," Dixon and Slifer added.

"Monday starts cloudier, with the chance for an early morning rain or snow shower. Thereafter, we should see at least partial clearing with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Temps go even milder Tuesday, topping out closer to 50. There are some timing differences when it comes to the arrival and passage of a warm front, with it a chance for showers from later Tuesday into early Wednesday. Behind the front, with increasing sunshine Wednesday afternoon, temperatures head into the mid and upper 50s!" (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
