Driver Killed After Truck Goes Down Embankment, ID Released: State PD

Ahead of the truck, the right lane was closed with traffic being diverted to the left lane due to planned construction, state police said.

GRISWOLD, CT — A Massachusetts man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on I-395 in Griswold on Thursday, state police said.

At 8:36 a.m. state police responded to a crash between exits 28-24 on the southbound side of I-395.

A Freightliner utility truck was traveling southbound in the right lane and ahead of the truck the right lane was closed with traffic being diverted to the left lane due to planned construction, state police said.

The truck drove into the right shoulder where it struck a metal beam guardrail. It separated from the guardrail, re-entered the right lane, then drove back into the shoulder, where it struck and drove onto another section of metal beam guardrail, state police said.

The truck then rolled over on its right side and down an embankment, where it came to a rest on its left side, state police said. Timothy E. Murray, 42, was killed in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
