5 Juveniles Charged In Putnam Business Burglary: Police
The burglars broke into a local company and $11,000 in merchandise was stolen, according to police.
PUTNAM, CT — Police have charged five area juveniles in connection with the July 7, 2024, nighttime burglary of Sumo Distributors.
About $11,000 in merchandise was stolen during the break-in at the 261 Kennedy Dr. business, according to police.
Police announced Tuesday they have charged five juveniles with third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny, and second-degree criminal mischief. Their names were not released due to their ages. They have all been referred to the Court of Juvenile Matters in Willimantic.

Three of the juveniles are Putnam residents, one is from Woodstock, and one is a Willimantic resident.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at the business on July 7 at 1:43 a.m. Responding officers found the front door had been smashed so the burglars could get inside, according to police.

Det. Hailey Griffin led the investigation, which concluded last week, police said.
