Here's Where 2 CT Cities Rank Among Country's Safest
A new report analyzes how safe U.S. cities are on everything from public health crises to natural disasters and shootings.
CONNECTICUT — Bridgeport ranks No. 61 and New Haven lands at No. 94 in a new analysis of the nation's safest cities. The report comes from personal finance website WalletHub.
The study doesn't only consider crime when weighing which cities are the safest.
"Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from public health crises and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents," according to WalletHub. "To determine where Americans can feel most secure, WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 41 key indicators of safety."

Bridgeport scored high as a refuge from natural disasters, but got beat up in the "Financial Safety" category. New Haven was in the middle of the pack among all cities in the rankings, No. 94 among 182.
The top 20 overall safest cities in the U.S., according to the study, are:

The bottom five cities included Memphis, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and New Orleans.
