CONNECTICUT — Milder air at the start of Sunday's snowstorm led to reduced snow totals across the state, especially in southeastern parts of the state, as some coastal towns received less than an inch of snow.

According to the National Weather Service, Vernon, Simsbury and Glastonbury received the most snow, with 6 inches of accumulation.

Most communities were in the 2-4 snow accumulation range, but some towns in Fairfield, Hartford and Tolland counties received more snow. (See below for town-by-town snow totals). At one point, forecasters were predicting up to 10 inches in some towns, and that never materialized.

"MLK, Jr. Monday is a First Alert Weather Day due to the dangerous combination of cold temperatures and a breeze. Temperatures only peak in the mid-20s. While not exceptionally windy, a breeze will make it feel more like the single digits if not below zero at times!" said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Tomorrow, also a First Alert Weather Day, we expect early morning wind chill values to go *below* zero! Some parts of CT could even see wind chill values drop to between -10 and -15.

"Even with ample sunshine, we’re forecasting highs only in the teens inland and in the low 20s at the shoreline (the coldest high temp so far this season. For the Hartford Area that temp was 22 back on December 22nd)," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "During the afternoon, plan for wind chill values between 0 and 10. Heading into Wednesday, our 3rd consecutive First Alert Weather Day, the wind subsides. Early in the morning temperatures could bottom out near, if not below zero (thus far, our coldest low was 5 back on December 23rd); during the afternoon, highs reach 20-25 under abundant sunshine. Temperatures will return to the upper 20s Thursday (still several degrees below average) under sunny skies. By Friday, a rebound to the mid-30s will put temperatures around average for late January."
