Human Remains Discovered In New Britain Belong To Adolescent Female: PD
The city school district has released a statement as the investigation unfolds.
NEW BRITAIN, CT — The human remains found in a container at an abandoned property Wednesday belong to an adolescent female, according to police.
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Rachel Zaniewski, communications director for the city, said Friday police learned of the age and gender of the individual’s remains through its partnership with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

“While we understand there are still many questions surrounding this case, it is crucial for us to allow the Medical Examiner’s Office to continue their work,” police said, in a statement released via Zaniewski Friday morning.
“Our Police Department has been working around the clock to piece together the information that has come forward to determine a timeline and an exact location of events leading up to our discovery earlier in the week,” police added.

Ryan Langer, communications officer for the Consolidated School District of New Britain, issued the following statement to the school community.
“At this time, law enforcement has not publicly identified the individual involved. Out of respect for the family and in alignment with standard protocols, we are not able to comment or confirm any information related to the identity of the individual at this time.
We are, however, mindful that this news may be impacting members of our school community, and are aware of unconfirmed reports that this individual may be a former student. The district is prepared to make support services available to students and staff.”
Police were dispatched around 1 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of suspicious behavior at an abandoned property at 80 Clark St.
Officers checking the property saw a large container in the backyard along the fence line, and they discovered the remains inside it.

Late Friday afternoon, police said they are now coordinating their efforts with additional law enforcement agencies in central Connecticut.
“Delicate investigations of this nature often take twists and turns, which is why it is so important that we do not say anything until we have all of the facts that have been corroborated by all law enforcement agencies actively working on a case like this,” police said, in a statement at 4 p.m. Friday.
“The New Britain Police Department is still actively working on all aspects of the investigation that occurred within the city. We understand the public's want for information, we are working around the clock to share what we can, when we can, so as to protect the investigation from being compromised,” police added.
City assessor records show the two-story, three-family property is still owned by 80 Clark LLC of Spring Valley, New York, which purchased it in 2021 for $140,000. Its principal is listed as Moshe Grossbard, and the business’ status is listed as “forfeited,” according to the Secretary of State’s office’s website.
