Bristol police on Tuesday released the identities of the father and son from Waterbury who were killed in a weekend car crash.

Police said the victims of the Saturday, Nov. 22 accident included the driver, Ismael Pacheco Duran, 35, and his son, 12-year-old Ismael Pacheco.

Three people were inside the vehicle. Pacheco Duran’s other son, age 10, was injured but survived, according to police. Police indicated they are not releasing the surviving son’s name due to his age.

Coraima Maldonado, campaign organizer, said money raised will go toward a funeral and memorial for her son Ismael Pacheco.

“This sudden tragedy has left our family in unimaginable pain as we try to make sense of a loss no parent should ever experience,” the campaign states.

According to Maldonado, her son was a “bright, sweet, and loving boy whose smile brought joy to everyone around him.”

“As we face this heartbreaking moment, we are humbly asking for support to help cover Ismael’s funeral and memorial expenses,” the campaign states. “Any contribution—no matter the amount—will help us give him the peaceful and beautiful farewell he deserves.”

According to Bristol police, it was a single-vehicle accident. The 2006 Honda Civic operated by Pacheco Duran crashed into a tree on Willis Street around 10:52 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Waterbury is handling the arrangements.
