Lamont Unveils Major Leadership Change In Key Connecticut Budget Office
Gov. Ned Lamont announces a leadership shift in Connecticut's budget office, with new plans set to take effect in early December.
CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont announced Thursday that Office of Policy and Management Secretary Jeffrey Beckham will leave his post on Dec. 5, with plans to nominate him for a Superior Court judgeship.
Lamont said he will appoint Joshua Wojcik to serve as the next OPM secretary. Wojcik will take over in an interim capacity when Beckham departs, and his formal nomination will be submitted to lawmakers when the General Assembly convenes for the 2026 session in February.
Lamont praised Beckham’s work on the state’s fiscal policies, saying his leadership contributed to credit rating upgrades and improved financial stability.

“Over the last several years, Jeff has been a trusted advisor… and his work has helped ensure that taxpayer funding is being used wisely and efficiently,” Lamont said. He credited Beckham with helping guide Connecticut through “a dramatic turnaround” in fiscal management.
Beckham said serving as OPM secretary “has been a great privilege,” noting efforts in recent years to pass what he described as the largest income tax cut in state history, reduce pension liabilities and improve the state's credit standing. “To the staff of the Office of Policy and Management, thank you for all you do each day to make our state a better place to live and work,” he said.

Wojcik currently serves as director of health care policy and benefits at the Office of the State Comptroller, overseeing the state employee health plan and other initiatives. He previously worked for a decade in the Comptroller’s Office as assistant comptroller and policy director and earlier served as a policy analyst with the Connecticut Senate Democrats.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next secretary of the Office of Policy and Management,” Wojcik said. He added that he will focus on building budgets “for long-term sustainability” and continuing work that has strengthened the state’s financial position.
Comptroller Sean Scanlon said Wojcik has been “an invaluable advisor” and credited him with helping design health care and budget reforms that contributed to the state’s fiscal recovery. “Governor Lamont has made an excellent choice,” Scanlon said.
Wojcik holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Connecticut and lives in Brooklyn, CT, with his wife and two children.
