This Is The Most Expensive Restaurant In Connecticut

Reviewers call the experience "fantastic," "phenomenal" and "outstanding," but the check at this Connecticut eatery borders on "bruising"…

CONNECTICUT — Be prepared to drop about $360 if you order off the top of the menu at David Burke Prime, inside Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, the most expensive restaurant in Connecticut, according to a new ranking.

Love Food, whose content includes recipes, food news, and opinion pieces, said the list of upscale restaurants in every state includes everything from “old-school, mahogany-filled steakhouses to seafood spots right by the ocean.”

The picks are based on the priciest main course or tasting menu. Spots with just one very expensive dish were excluded.

Of David Burke Prime, Love Food said: "Cooking steak is treated as an art form at this glitzy restaurant from Iron 'Chef America' star David Burke, known for its ostentatious three-story wine tower and sprawling dry aging room."

That $360 will buy you the Kobe beef filet mignon, but a few other items are priced not far behind. These include the 16oz boneless Japanese wagyu sirloin and caviar with crème fraîche, egg, blinis, and red onion at $225.

Reviews on Open Table call the food "fantastic," "phenomenal" and "outstanding," and the ambience "wonderful." Diners also praised the restaurant's "extensive wine list with a great sommelier."

Many, like this one from the Greater Boston Area's Melissa, might even be called over-the-top:

"Probably one of the best meals I've had in a really long time. Everything was so delicious. Fresh & hot. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection & the creamy corn was so tasty. Amazing beer battered onion rings. Best creme brulee I've ever had. & They give u a huge ball of cotton candy with the check. I can't say enough how great this meal was!!"

All that adulation is to be expected, for as one reviewer noted, "Their food is good, but it should be because it’s pricey."
