New Weekend Morning Anchor Debuts At Connecticut News Station

She is no stranger to the station, having been there for the past three years as a reporter.

NBC Connecticut has a new weekend morning anchor.

Briceyda Landaverde, who has been a reporter with the Hartford-based station for three years, has been promoted to the weekend anchor position, and completed her first shift at the post over the weekend.

"This month, I am marking two big milestones at NBC Connecticut," Landaverde wrote on Facebook. "I’m celebrating three years at the company and beginning a new chapter as weekend anchor. I hope you will continue following my journey and join us bright and early as we bring you the latest news headlines."

The Laurel, which also wrote about the promotion, called the promotion expected.

The weekend morning anchor job recently opened up at NBC Connecticut when Taylor Kinzler moved to a weekday morning anchor post.

In recent months, the station has overseen a shake up among its anchors. Shannon Miller recently left for a new job in her home state of Texas, and Heidi Voight also departed.

Landaverde graduated from Stony Brook University in 2016, and was a weekend morning anchor and reporter in Springfield, Massachusetts before joining NBC Connecticut, according to her bio.

Before the Massachusetts stint, Landaverde, a New York native, was a photojournalist on Long Island.

While at Stony Brook, Landaverde traveled to Cuba, when the travel ban was briefly lifted, to report on Wi-Fi accessibility on the island.
