Nurse Identified As New Britain Homicide Victim; Gunman Sought
The early Monday morning shooting remains under investigation, with police still searching for the suspect.

NEW BRITAIN, CT – A woman who was fatally shot in New Britain on Monday in a domestic violence incident has been identified as a nurse at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, police have secured an arrest warrant for the suspected gunman.
The victim, Bryana Raye, was employed at Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, the hospital confirmed Tuesday.

“Bryana Raye was a cherished and admired member of our staff and we are devastated by this tragedy,” the hospital said, in an email to Patch. “Our hearts go out to her family and she will be in our thoughts as we continue the work she was so dedicated to.”
An arrest warrant has been signed for suspect Christopher Raye, 45, police said Tuesday. The charges include murder, first-degree assault with a firearm, two counts risk of injury, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a weapon.

The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Monday at a residence at 57 Prospect St., according to police.
Raye was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second female victim was critically injured, police said.
Police have said the victims knew their attacker, who fled the scene. Police have not yet identified the second victim.
New Britain police are investigating the incident with help from the Connecticut State Police and New Britain State’s Attorney’s Office.
