Pairings Announced For CIAC Girls Basketball State Tournaments

A total of 41 teams from Hartford and Tolland counties will compete in state tournament action; finals are March 15-16 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

HARTFORD-TOLLAND COUNTIES, CT — The "Run to the Sun" begins in earnest this weekend for 41 high school girls basketball teams from Hartford and Tolland counties who have qualified for CIAC tournament play.

Pairings for the five divisional tournaments were released Wednesday, and three area teams have qualified as the top seeds in their respective classes: Northwest Catholic (L), East Catholic (MM) and Innovation (S).

The 2024 champions were Hamden (LL), Simsbury (L), Northwest Catholic (MM), St. Paul (M) and Somers (S). At least three new champions will be crowned, as Northwest Catholic and St. Paul have both moved up to Class L, and Simsbury did not qualify for postseason play.
